Volunteer
Timehelp is for anyone with a spare couple of hours available each week and a desire to make a difference to the lives of young people.  You do not need any special skills.  Most of our volunteers are over 55.  At present, we work in public primary and secondary schools in Geelong region, City of Moreland, City of Hobsons Bay and Holroyd, NSW.

In many cases, our young people simply need a positive older person in their lives and someone to connect with beyond their immediate family.

Volunteering opportunities in schools include but are not limited to;

  • Reading and writing support
  • Helping migrant and refugee children
  • Lending a hand in the garden or grounds maintenance
  • Helping out in the library
  • One to one subject tutoring
  • Supporting the art, sport, music or language programs
  • Numeracy assistance
  • Office administration
  • Offering lunch time activities like chess club, book club, science club
  • Listening to and conversing with students who need a bit of positive reinforcement

We help you chose the type of activity you’d like to be involved in, the time and day of the week that suits you and the school you’d like to support.

Many of our retirees take extended holidays during the year and good for them – that’s what retirement is all about!  We inform the school about your holidays.
