About

With an ageing population, a dwindling supply of parental volunteers in schools and increasing challenges for teachers to be much more than educators, it’s no wonder Timehelp has been welcomed in the community.

The Timehelp program connects two generations for learning, well-being and community outcomes. Schools need volunteers but don’t have the time or resources to source, train, manage and support them.  That is the role of Timehelp.

Our older generation has a wealth of untapped skill, knowledge and wisdom.  No matter what age, we want to feel valued and connected and to contribute in a meaningful way to a strong, prosperous future for the next generation.

By ensuring our retirees are active, stimulated and connected we will reduce the economic and social pressures on our communities by removing barriers to social isolation and improving health, both physical and emotional.

Timehelp is a not for profit program under the auspice of Charities Aid Foundation Australia (CAF).  It was founded in 2004 by CAF, The Alcoa Foundation and independent community adviser Ms Lisa Kingman.

Our vision

To be Australia’s premier intergenerational volunteer program

Our mission

To connect two generations; young people and seniors, for education, well being and community benefits.

Our objectives

To bring to life, a community volunteer program that results in education benefits and life learning outcomes for young people, through interaction with the older generation.

To provide a growing population of over 55’s and retirees with opportunities to enhance their own physical and mental well-being by contributing to and connecting with young people in their local community, in a meaningful way.

To provide a structured and supported volunteer package to address needs of young people in government primary and secondary schools – in a way that does not have to draw on school’s own limited resources.

To ensure Timehelp is embraced, funded, and valued by the community for the community.
